Cybersecurity Certifications in India: Security+, CEH & OSCP

Which cybersecurity certification should you choose in India?

Choose a certification by the work you want to do and the skills you already have. Security+ covers broad security foundations, CEH focuses on ethical-hacking knowledge and its associated training path, and OffSec PEN-200 prepares learners for a practical penetration-testing assessment. None is a universal requirement for every cybersecurity job.

Before paying for an exam, compare the current objectives with several job descriptions you would realistically apply for. A certificate can help document learning, but employers may also assess projects, communication, troubleshooting and practical ability.

Security+, CEH and OSCP: a practical comparison

CompTIA Security+: broad security foundations

Security+ covers general security concepts, threats and mitigations, architecture, operations, and program management. It can be a useful study framework for learners interested in security operations and general security roles.

The official Security+ page currently lists SY0-701, up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions, and a 90-minute exam. CompTIA recommends Network+ knowledge and two years in a security or systems-administration role; that recommendation should not be confused with a promise that a beginner will be exam-ready after a short course.

Check the current Security+ objectives, exam details and purchase options.

EC-Council CEH: ethical-hacking knowledge and training

CEH covers ethical-hacking concepts, techniques and tools. EC-Council distinguishes its multiple-choice exam from the separate practical assessment. When comparing training offers, ask precisely which exam voucher, lab access and retake terms are included.

The official CEH page describes a four-hour, 125-question knowledge exam and a separate six-hour practical exam with 20 challenges. Check the current eligibility and certification policies with EC-Council before buying a voucher or choosing self-study.

Review the official CEH program and exam information.

OffSec OSCP / OSCP+: practical penetration testing

OffSec PEN-200 emphasizes enumeration, exploitation, evidence gathering and reporting. It is a better fit once you are comfortable with networking, Linux and Windows administration, and basic Bash or Python scripting. Treat those foundations as preparation work rather than skipping directly to exam practice.

OffSec states that passing the current exam awards both OSCP and OSCP+. OSCP has no expiration date; the OSCP+ designation has a three-year validity period with maintenance options. Confirm the current exam guide, reporting requirements and permitted tools before scheduling.

Review PEN-200 prerequisites, syllabus and OSCP+ exam options.

How to compare certification costs in India

Do not rely on an old INR conversion or an advertised training price as the final exam cost. Vendor prices, regional eligibility, taxes, exchange rates and bundle contents can change. Obtain a current quote or check the vendor checkout before budgeting.

  • Is the quoted amount for training, an exam voucher, or both?
  • How long is lab access, and when does the voucher expire?
  • Are proctoring charges, taxes, retakes and extensions included?
  • Does the credential require renewal, continuing education or maintenance fees?
  • Is the seller authorized, and is the voucher valid for your region?

A learning path before spending on an exam

  1. Build foundations: explain IP addressing, DNS, HTTP, permissions and basic Linux commands in your own words.
  2. Choose a direction: compare defensive operations, application security and penetration testing instead of collecting unrelated certificates.
  3. Practice: complete exercises in a lab, keep notes, and reproduce your results without a walkthrough.
  4. Create evidence of work: publish an original lab report, a small script or a documented investigation using training data.
  5. Map gaps: compare your skills with the official exam objectives and address the missing areas before booking.

Is a Code Hacker completion certificate the same as CEH, OSCP or Security+?

No. A Code Hacker course-completion certificate records completion on this learning platform. It does not award a third-party certification or include an EC-Council, OffSec or CompTIA exam voucher. Those credentials have their own provider requirements and assessments.

Use the ethical-hacking course syllabus to explore foundational topics, or start with Python programming if scripting is your next skill gap. Course access and third-party certification costs should be budgeted separately.

Does a certification guarantee a cybersecurity job?

No. Hiring depends on the role, employer, experience and demonstrated skills. Compare current job requirements, practice explaining your work, and keep a portfolio of original projects. Avoid choosing a program solely because it advertises a salary or a guaranteed placement outcome.
